The No⏾tarium

The Noctarium is an interactive projection piece presented across an architectural facade, inviting passersby to rediscover wonder in familiar urban spaces. The piece transforms the facade into glowing windows that reveal dreamlike scenes of nighttime life in silhouette. Each vignette offers a fragment of a story, opening onto intimate worlds behind closed curtains. Together, they create a patchwork of city life after dark: intimate, fleeting, and full of unseen delight. Viewers can dial a number to hear these stories while watching the projections, creating a quiet moment of pause, curiosity, and connection within the surrounding environment.

About the Team

Yidan Hu, Josh Sun, Julia Xu, and Kyrie Yang are the collaborative team behind The Noctarium. Working across film, new media, performance, projection, and installation, they bring together distinct backgrounds in visual storytelling and interdisciplinary art.Their shared practice moves between digital and physical space, combining moving image, spatial composition, and audience interaction. Their work focuses on how stories unfold through environments, and how images, objects, and technology can shape the way audiences experience them.
